Our text message terms

These are the terms for text messages from ETAF, LLC, doing business as East Texas Auto & Finance, 335 S Dickinson Dr, Rusk, TX 75785. Our texts come from 903-683-2886 — the same number you call to reach the store.
We sell the vehicles and we carry the notes ourselves. When we text you about an account, you're hearing from the company that holds it, not a collection agency and not an outside service.
What we text you about
We only text people who told us it was okay, and only about their own business with us:
- Reminders that a payment is coming due
- Confirmations that we got your payment
- Service, pickup, and paperwork scheduling
- Answers when you text us a question
- Updates on a vehicle or an application you asked about
We don't send marketing or promotional texts, and we don't share your mobile number with anyone else for their marketing.
How you sign up
You check the consent box on our online application, or you tell us in person or on the phone. The box isn't checked for you — you have to check it yourself.
How often, and what it costs
Message frequency varies. It depends on your account and what's going on with it — some months that's a message or two around your due date, some months none at all.
Message and data rates may apply. We don't charge you to receive our texts, but your carrier might, depending on your plan.
Stopping the texts
Reply STOP to any message from us. You'll get one confirmation back, then we'll quit texting that number. Reply HELP for our contact information, or call 903-683-2886 during store hours.
Stopping the texts doesn't close your account or change what you owe, and it doesn't stop us from calling or mailing you about your account — we're required to keep you informed about it. If you want the texts back on later, tell us or text START.
Texts don't always arrive
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages, and neither we nor your carrier can promise a message gets through. So don't count on a text as your only reminder that a payment is due. Your contract, not our text messages, is what governs when you owe and how much.
Supported carriers include AT&T, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, U.S. Cellular and most regional carriers. Carriers can add or drop support at any time.
If your number changes
Tell us. Phone numbers get reassigned, and we'd rather not send your account information to a stranger who ended up with your old number.
Your privacy
How we handle your information, including your phone number, is in our privacy policy. The short version: we don't sell it, rent it, trade it, or hand it to lead brokers.
Changes
If we change this, we'll change the date at the top.
